About Framilia
Because a family is not a target audience.
Framilia grew out of real questions and problems within our own family. What began as a search for a solution for ourselves grew into the idea of building that solution for families like ours, and for all families that look different.
How it began
Born from real life.
Framilia was not born at a drawing board, but from real life.
From the small and sometimes surprisingly hard questions we ran into within our own family. Appointments that got lost, groceries bought twice, birthdays nearly forgotten, different calendars that would hardly come together, and the constant search for a simple way to share everything that keeps a family busy.
We noticed that many of those problems were actually not that complicated. What was missing most was one place where everything could come together. A place not made for one particular kind of family, but for families as they really are.
So we started building Framilia. Not because we thought the world needed another app, but because we felt ourselves that something was missing.
What we learned along the way
We learned that accessibility is for everyone.
While developing Framilia we also came into contact with many people who, each in their own way, need extra support.
Through our many initiatives and collaborations with people who can use extra support, we gained a particularly valuable insight: accessibility is not a separate feature for a small group. Simplicity, clarity, recognition and the ability to arrange things together with others matter to far more people than we initially thought.
What is a hurdle for one person can simply be, for another, a need for more overview, fewer stimuli, more recognition or a little help from someone close by. That changed our view of Framilia too.
Inclusive from the ground up
Inclusive from the ground up.
Framilia is therefore an inclusive platform. For big families and small families. For blended families, separated parents and families spread over different houses or countries. For children, parents and grandparents. For people who arrange everything themselves and for people who now and then need some extra support.
Everyone can be part of the same family in their own way.
That is why we do not believe much in boxes. A grandparent is not just "an older user". Someone who needs support is so much more than that one need. A blended family is not less of a family. And a family does not have to look like the classic picture to be one.
A family is a group of people whocare for each other, are connected to each other and organise daily life together.

Framilia is built in Belgium, from a simple idea: technology should make people's lives easier, not more complicated.
That is why we deliberately keep Framilia simple, warm and accessible. No abundance of features because they are technically possible. No complicated settings that first require a manual. But a place where you can plan, remember, organise, help and share together.
And because family is also about trust, we consider privacy not an extra but a basic condition.

Framilia started from our own experiences, but the story does not stop there.
Every family is different. That is why we listen to people who use Framilia, to families experimenting with it and to people who tell us where they still get stuck today. Their questions help us build Framilia further.
Because in the end, Framilia is not about calendars, grocery lists, gifts or technology.
It is about people who belong together.
About having to remember less.
About helping each other more easily.
About knowing what is going on.
About making room for the things that really matter.
